APMOPS Award Ceremony 2011

On 25 May 2011, the Award Ceremony for the Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS 2011) was held at Singapore International School @ Cau Giay, with the participation of representatives from the Singapore Embassy (Vietnam), Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training, local school principals, students, parents and senior staff from KinderWorld Education Group.
The Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary School 2011 (APMOPS 2011) is a prestigious event organized by Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore each year for mathematically talented students in the Asia Pacific region. The year 2011 is the third time that APMOPS has been co-hosted by Hwa Chong Institution and KinderWorld Education Group in Vietnam.
KinderWorld Education Group sponsored return air tickets to Singapore for the top 10 Vietnamese students who were selected to take part in the Invitation Round on 28 May 2011.  Hwa Chong Institution sponsored all other living expenses during the students’ 3-day trip to Singapore.
The APMOPS competition in Vietnam attracted 330 students in 2009, increased to 486 in 2010 and reached 581 in 2011. Last year, during APMOPS 2010, two Vietnamese students were awarded 11th and 12th prizes out of the 7728 students participating from the Asia Pacific Region.
Of the 581 students in Vietnam in APMOPS 2011, 379 students came from Hanoi, 103 students from Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong and 99 students from Hue and Danang. The First Round was held at KinderWorld’s Singapore International School campuses in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, on Saturday 9 April 2011. Of the 581 participants registered 569 sat the First Round Test with the following results:
  • Platinum Certificate:    13
  • Gold Certificate:    16
  • Silver Certificate:    31
  • Bronze Certificate:    57
  • Participation Certificate:  452
The top ten qualifiers from the First Round were invited to participate in the Final Invitation Round and Prize Presentation Ceremony to be held on Saturday 28 May 2011 at Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore. Below is the list of top ten students from Vietnam.

Recognized as one of the most prestigious mathematics competitions in the world, APMOPS attracts nearly 8,000 students from 14 countries in the Asia Pacific region each year and is conducted all in English.

The APMOPS competition has been a valuable opportunity for over 1,400 young mathematical talents to compete with over 20,000 peers from other Asia Pacific countries since its first year of organization in Vietnam.
