Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process through which the knowledge and skills gained by individuals as the result of their life and work experiences, informal learning and formal study are assessed against nationally recognised industry qualifications. It is the starting point for the design of individual training plans for enterprise employees and a key workforce development strategy.

This had led to the development of a very comprehensive and contemporary Recognition of Prior Learning process in collaboration with leading practitioners in the field. This process has been very well received by both employers and employees in the industry and includes the development of an individual training plan that addresses any skill gaps identified during the RPL process and which meets the need of the employee and the enterprise.

Individual training plans include a combination of methodologies as follows:

    • Workshops;

    • Work-based projects;

    • Online learning; Research projects;

    • Support from a mentor or Case Manager.
